MS and Samsung at WinHEC introduced their new HHD designed for use in the next generation of Windows. It's outfitted with a 1Gbit NAND flash buffer and it only spins up the platters and writes to the drive when its good and full.
Sounds like a great drive, more of a leap in HD technology than those 10,000 rpm drives, in my mind at least.

And probably won't run nearly so hot as a 10,000 RPM drive.
